BEEP! goes the horn, runners underway. Amongst them was someone who wasnt that fast, neither was he that slow. The pain hasnt kicked in yet and everyone was charging up strong through the trail. It was long and fast, and the running groups began to thin. It was for about another 3km before we hit the tarmac again. It was now a long straight portion down all the way, demoralising i must say, with no end to the road in sight, only the backs of the few who were ahead. The mind started to wonder, the strength started to weaken, thoughts of giving up were flashing past his mind yet he pushed on, kept telling himself the reason which he loves running so much and that is to win. That thought and the many people that he didnt want to disappoint pushed him through the agonizing part of the run. Next came the beach, it was comfortable, much much easier than the trail part. Soon, its back onto the tarmac and a straight road back to the finish line. Tried as hard as he may, he just couldnt catch the few in front of him, he was just too weak. Eventually, he gathered up his last burst of energy and gave it his all and managed a humbly 15th overall!
